Heidi Hellraiser Ad - The Whitley Company

2007

The theme for the 2007 Austin ADDY Awards centered around Austin's Lonestar Roller Girls. The Whitley Company was the official printer for the awards and needed an ad for the program. Having personally spent a good deal of time at TXRD bouts rooting for the Holy Rollers (banked track league, thank you very much), I immediately knew where we needed to go with this ad. I created Heidi Hellraiser, the flaming press-skate, as an original illustration for this piece, wrote the copy, and designed the ad.

It reads: Go ahead. Try and play hardball with Heidi Hellraiser. This lean, mean press will dish it right back as fast as you can give it. She makes this game look good. But Heidi is just one of the sure-footed members of our competition clobbering team. Stop by and pay respect to Sister “the Speed Demon” Speedmaster and Betty “Back off and watch me work” Binder. And if you think our machines are bunch of tough mamas, just wait until you meet our people. They’ll mow down anything that gets in the way of excellent customer service and they’ll clothesline technical gremlins to make sure your job comes out as clean and fresh as new fallen snow in someplace where they actually have snow.
